Belgian National Championship 2010

Nationals will take place this year from Friday, June 25th 2010 until Sunday, June 27th 2010. The venue will be, like last year, the Forum in Bruparck, Brussels.

25th, 26th and 27th of June 2010

Eligibility:
The National Championship is an invitation-only event. You may earn an invitation in the following ways:
- top 35 ranked players in the Total Ranking list for Belgium, on 2nd of June 2010
- top 4 players at Belgian Nationals 2009 (team and alternate)
- players with Pro Tour Players Club level 2 or higher
- top 8 finishers at National Qualifier events (players already qualified may not participate in these events). For a list of qualifiers, see http://www.mtgbelgium.be/forum/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=371

Format and tournament length:
- Friday: three swiss rounds of Standard, followed by three swiss rounds of booster draft.
- Saturday: three swiss rounds of booster draft, followed by three swiss rounds of Standard.
- Sunday: cut to the top8 players, Standard, single elimination including playoffs for 3rd place. Top 8 matches are played as best 3 out of 5.

Other information:
- Deck lists are required. All rounds of Standard will be played with the same deck (day 1, day 2, top 8).
- All qualified players may participate in all swiss rounds.
- 40K, REL Competitive
- All Magic Tournament Rules are in effect unless otherwise specified.
- All drafts will use the triple Rise of the Eldrazi draft format.
- Participation is free

Public Events:
- 8-person draft queues
- other Public Events are TBC

Schedule:
- Friday: registration at 9:00, tournament at 10:00
- Saturday: tournament at 10:00
- Sunday: top 8 at 10:00, public events TBC

Qualification for Worlds:
Team and alternate will receive qualification and travel award to the 2010 World Championship in Japan.

Prizes:
- 1st-4th place: 2 displays + travel and invite to Worlds
- 5th-8th place: 4 displays
- 9th-16th place: 1 display

Pro points:
- 1st place: 10 Pro points
- 2nd place: 8 Pro points
- 3rd-4th place: 6 Pro points
- 5th-8th place: 4 Pro points
- 9th-12th place: 2 Pro points
- 13th-16th place: 1 Pro point

well, guess some metalheads and some students might have a problem getting there but big props for getting the info out this early so people can plan accordingly

No, the format for both drafts is ROE-ROE-ROE

Eligibility
The Magic: the Gathering Belgium National Championship is an invitation-only event, open to citizens or permanent residents of Belgium who have won an invitation to Nationals through DCI ratings or from qualifying events such as Regional or City Championships.

Registration Requirements

To register, all participants must present one of the following forms of identification:

  • A driver's license, or
  • A passport, or
  • A copy of a birth certificate and photo ID (school IDs are acceptable)



Registration times and locations
Registration starts at 9.00 on Friday the 25th

Format

  • Standard and Booster Draft
  • 3 Rise of the Eldrazi booster packs will be used for drafting
  • Deck lists are required
  • Check http://www.thedci.com for Standard and Booster Draft format rules



Tournament Length

  • Day 1 will consist of 3 rounds of Standard, 3 rounds of Booster Draft.
  • Day 2 will consist of 3 rounds of Booster Draft, 3 rounds of Standard.
  • Day 3 will consist of the Top 8 finals.
  • 12 Swiss Rounds total, 60 minutes per round
  • Top 8 single-elimination finals have no time limit; however, players are expected to play at a reasonable pace and finish their matches within 90 minutes.



Advancement

  • All players may participate in all Swiss rounds
  • After round 12 the top 8 players advance to the top 8 single-elimination finals



Top 8

  • Standard format
  • Losers of the semi-final matches will playoff to determine 3rd place.



Invitations

  • The Top 4 players receive invitations to the 2010 World Championships.
  • The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place players will form the National Team. The 4th Place player will be the alternate.



Notes

  • 40K, REL Competitive
  • Players are required to use the same Standard deck for day 1, day 2, and Top 8.
  • The Magic: The Gathering Tournament Rules and the Magic: The Gathering Infraction Procedure Guide are in effect for this event unless specifically overruled by information in this Format Document.
